A Grandmother's
Dream
Some
people only dream of owning a work of art.
On a visit to the North Carolina Museum of
Art in Raleigh, I viewed the children of royal
families in their finery and became more determined
to have a portrait of my grandchildren dressed
in white Battenberg lace. In July 1998, with
two grandchildren from Baton Rouge, Louisina,
and two from Cary, North Carolina, I arrived
in Burlington for the photo session with our
artist Lyndia Kleeberg. Two mothers and two
grandmothers dressed the four "angels'
and left them with Lyndia to perform her miracles.
Now, I awaken and go to sleep each day with
a view of the portrait of my grandchildren.
Never
will I regret the time, energy, or money spent
on this dream, for that dream has been forever
captured as a work of art.
